SHELDON - Joan Sweet, age 88, passed away on Sunday, May 5th, 2024 with her loving family by her side.
She was born on January 21st, 1936, in Sheldon, Vermont to the late Earl & Glenna (Clapper) Putnam.
Joan's love for her family was immeasurable, evident in the countless Sundays gathered around the dining table, sharing meals and building cherished memories. Her passion for crocheting and creating delicate doilies brought beauty into the world, reflecting her gentle and artistic spirit. Engaging in puzzles, gambling, and lively bingo games brought joy to her days, while quiet moments spent in her rocking chair doing sudoku and crossword puzzles.
Among the treasured moments Joan leaves behind are the family gatherings at their camp, filled with laughter and shared stories. Creating popcorn balls and time with her grandchildren will forever remain a cherished memory for all.
Joan is survived by her children, David Sweet and his wife Jan, Nora Vanslette and her husband David, Richard Sweet Jr. and his wife Karen, and Tina Paradee and her husband Bobby; 9 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Norma and Carroll Boudreau; good friends, Sara Allen, Beverly Kemp, and Janet Donna; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard Sweet; her grandson, Warren Vanslette; her siblings, Audrey Gillian and her husband Harry, Ruth King and her husband George, Betty Putnam, Elaine Putnum and her husband Clinton, and Earl Putnam and his wife Ester; in-laws, Eugene & Irene Sweet; sisters-in-law, Emily Putnam, and Eleanor Levick and her husband Pete.
