Joan Tomassetti Obituary

Mrs. Joan R. Tomassetti, age 83, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Wynn Hospital, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Utica, on July 25, 1941, a daughter of the late Carlton and Ruth Burlison Robinson and was a graduate of UFA. On April 29, 1961, she was married to Joseph A. Tomassetti in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church; a loving and blessed union of 57 years until his passing on October 24, 2018. Prior to having children, Joan was employed at the NY Telephone Company and then, much later in life, at Price Chopper in South Utica.

A generous and kind woman, Joan's main focus in life was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. Her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Surviving are her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Suzy Tomassetti, of Jupiter, FL; beloved daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Barry Hall, of Oriskany; four grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Marisa and Joey Tomassetti and Julia and Jennifer Hall; brother, Richard Robinson; in-laws, Marilyn Sardina, Jacqueline Farrell and Mike and Joann Tomassetti; and many loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves many dear friends who were like family, especially Dolores Citriniti and Carol Brady.

She was predeceased by her brother, Gary Robinson; in-laws, Virginia Tomassetti, Diane Robinson, Betty and husband, Ed Lebioda, Jack Sardina and John Farrell.

The family would like to recognize and sincerely thank the Eastern Star Home for Joan's care over the last two years. They are forever grateful.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at The Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home, 1122 Culver Ave., Utica. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. from Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Lisa, Joe and Families,
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I am thankful for the opportunity to have helped to care for her. She had a wonderful smile and sometimes I could get her to sing with me. She alw a ys talked so highly of her family and at some point joining the love of her life. Fly high with the angels Joan. May the many memories made bring comfort for your family.

Will always remember our morning walks when you kids were young with the Stalkers and Bennincasa and working the elections for many years. We will not be able to make the service. God Bless you all.
