Joan died peacefully in her sleep on May 19th. She was born in 1937 to Jim and Gladys McCann in Scholls, Oregon. She grew up and lived in that area. She married Bob Try in 1957 and together they had four children: Jodi (Thomas), Julee, Tracy (John) and Brian.
Joan and Bob enjoyed volunteering at the Tualatin River Wildlife Refuge in Sherwood. Birding and traveling were two of their many hobbies. Joan participated in the Linus Project for many years, sewing hundreds of quilts that were donated to children in need.
She is remembered as loving and caring, always wanting to get to know people better and sharing stories. She is greatly missed by her children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren along with brother Bob and brother-in-law Don.
Interment will be at Mountainside Cemetery in Scholls, Oregon, along with "the rest of her family".
A Celebration and remembrance picnic to be held on July 23 from 5-9 pm at Snyder Park in Sherwood, Oregon.
