Joan Lou Vaughn, 85, formerly of Stanton, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at her daughter's home in Winchester, TN.

Joan was married to her loving husband, Jack Vaughn, in 1958. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sibling, and friend to all who knew her. Joan enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking. She is especially known for her pies at family gatherings. Although she was slowed by a massive stroke in 2001, Joan persevered in living life, even coaching her husband Jack, as he tried to make homemade pie crust! In her later years, she enjoyed watching sports, playing freecell on the computer, and watching birds out the window.

Surviving Joan are her son John Vaughn of Sidney; daughters, Gaylynn (Tim) Phegley of Winchester, TN, and Susan Wilson of Sparta; and son Andy (Lissie) Vaughn of Vestaburg. She is also survived by siblings: Emma Jean McConkie of Mt. Pleasant, Judy (Elton) Henderson of Ithaca, Sharon Hey of Alma, Brenda (Dan) Schuler of Lansing, and James (Dawn) McConkie of Alma. Grandchildren: Maggie (Avery) Boaz, Nick Bottrell, Jeff (Stacey) Vaughn, Stephanie (Rob) Leach, Cody (Korin)Wilson, and 10 great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 2020; parents Raymond McConkie and Lela McConkie; siblings, Shirley (Laurence) Reed, Robert McConkie and Albert McConkie; son in law, Lawrence Wilson; daughter in law, Cristine Vaughn; great granddaughter, Torrie Lynn Bottrell.

In keeping with Joan's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services. A private burial of her and Jack will take place at a later date in Vinewood Cemetery in Edmore.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home in Alma, MI and Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, TN.
