Eugene "Dale" Vaughn, 84, of Pittsburg, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025 at his home.

Dale was born September 26, 1941 in Cedar County, Missouri, the son of Carly and Ora (Hutchinson) Vaughn. He graduated from Wheatland High School.

Mr. Vaughn worked for the Kansas City Railroad as an engineer and brakeman.

On June 21, 1963, he was united in marriage to Frances "Fran" B. Scott at Buckner, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2004.

He was of Baptist faith. Dale coached youth baseball in Pittsburg for many years. He loved to play pool, follow his grandkids to their games and events, where he was known as Papa Dale. In his later years, he was a regular at the Farm House Café.

Dale is survived by three sons, Ernie Vaughn (Victoria) of Columbus, Kansas, Duane Vaughn (Jennifer) of Pittsburg, and Roger Vaughn (Johnna) of Savannah, Georgia; a daughter, Kathy Eaton (Steve) of Scott City, Kansas; a sister, Faye Lamb of Buckner, Missouri; ten grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Stoney Wayne Vaughn on September 10, 1991, four sisters, four brothers, and a grandson, Toby Eaton.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 4) at Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Anthony Navaratnam officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials be given to Pittsburg High School Baseball program. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St, Pittsburg, KS 66762. Online condolences may also be left at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
