As described by her devoted husband Harry, Joan saved him. They met when Joan was 14, later married then went on to build a long life together, filled with love, laughter and a large loving family that enjoys spending time together.
Joan was a devoted member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. She was known to attend church from a very early age and independently as a teenager. She has practiced her faith for decades and said the rosary every evening. Joan was a member of the church choir for many years, she led weekly rosary, assisted with Prep classes and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Joan was heavily involved in caring for others even beyond her family. She spent several years assisting elderly homebound seniors, providing support, delivering meals, and running errands.
Joan was an active member of the Saint Francis Seniors group for many years. She enjoyed the meetings, travel opportunities, and above all the companionship of fellow members.
For years, Joan shared her voice as a member of the Merry Tones choral group. The Merry Tones visited seniors throughout the region, providing entertainment and smiles. We fondly remember Joan sharing stories about the many visits to various senior homes. This brought her tremendous joy!
Joan loved to travel and enjoyed many trips. She and Harry visited the Caribbean, Italy, Mexico, England, Scotland, and Ireland, with Israel being her trip of a lifetime. Most recently Joan, along with 30 family members, enjoyed a trip to the beaches of North Carolina in July of 2023.
Joan never missed a birthday, anniversary, or holiday. She purchased all her cards monthly to ensure everyone received them on time. Each child and their spouse were invited to a birthday dinner with a menu of their choice. Joan could recite each family member's birthday from memory. Truly a remarkable love of family.
We will deeply miss Mom, Mom Mom, Joan. We will always treasure the time we had with her.
