Obituary of Joan M. Wayburn-Gregg
Joan Marie Gregg, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Born in Chicago, she was the daughter of Evelyn (nee Graber) and Army Air Corps Lt. Edward Wybranoski. Though born Wybranoski, she was renamed Wayburn by her stepfather, Stephen Wayburn.
Joan is predeceased by her husband of 30 years, John A. Gregg, Sr.; her parents; her stepfather. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Sheahan (Corey McArdle), Christopher Sheahan, Daniel (Jodi) Sheahan, and Ellen Sheahan (Peter Adamson); and seven grandchildren, Michael, John, Lucas, Patrick, Frank, Steven, and Evalyn. Joan leaves behind all her dearly loved friends, Pat Knoebel, Cathy Jacobs, Ginny Lock, Joan Milos, Carole Slota, and Margaret McElroy.
Joan enjoyed a rewarding career working for the WIC Program for 22 years, and after retiring she enjoyed gardening, traveling, and dining out with her friends in her leisure time.
Visitation for Joan will be Tuesday October 21, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet. A Memorial Service will begin 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the funeral home with Inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
