JOAN G. WILLIAMS, born on June 13, 1940, in Georgetown, South Carolina as Joann Patricia Golden, the youngest of eight children, to the late Daniel and Tisby Golden. She fell asleep in death on August 12, 2025.

Joan often spoke of her fond memories of growing up and spending time with her beloved Uncle Howard and Aunt Lois. After graduating from Howard High School in Georgetown, SC, she moved to Brooklyn, New York to obtain employment while living with her cousin, Louise "Mimi" Gardner. There is where she met, fell in love with and married Jonathan Williams. From their thirteen years union they were blessed to have four children.

In 1973, Joan moved to Baltimore, MD where she lovingly raised her children. She proudly worked as a Supervisor Security Guard at the Social Security Administration. Joan later earned a certification in business technology and held several administrative positions, lastly retiring from Lockheed Martin. For many years she has been a loyal member of Bethel, A.M.E. Church. She loved serving as an active member of the Lay Organization and Senior Missionary Group. Faithfully, each morning when she first woke, she would say her prayers and read a passage from the Bible to start her day. She especially enjoyed her conversations with a small group of friends who would encourage one another with scriptural passages and prayer during the week.

As a former member of the Howard High School Glee Club, she loved music and enjoyed singing and dancing. She also loved to travel, particularly taking cruises, trips back "home" to Georgetown and she especially cherished her weekly Sunday outings after church with Earl, her loyal companion of over forty years. She also enjoyed quiet times with a good book. However, her real joy was spending time with her family. We'll always keep near to our hearts the warm memories of the numerous occasions around her dinner table where she served plenty of delicious home cooked meals with lots of joking, laughter and abiding love.

Proceeding her in death are her oldest son, Anthony Williams; Siblings: Oscar, Laura, Wilhelmina, Dorothy, Rebecca, and Robert; and those whom she loved as her own siblings: sister-in-law, Connie Golden and brother-in-law, Arthur Brockington.

She is survived by her Children: Brenda and Mark Askew, Shawnette Fleet, Terence and Tonyetta Williams; Grandchildren: Christopher, Jonathan, Adriane, LaKieshia, Michael, NyTasha, Darrin Jr., Terence Jr., and Terri; Great-Grandchildren: Kaylah, Diego Jr., Christian, Juliana, Darrin III, and Dakarri; Sibling: Emma Brockington; and her devoted and cherished companion, Earl Ruff, Jr., along with a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Joan---"Mommy", "Gram", "Boo", and "Aunt Joan" ---you will be dearly missed but forever loved.
