Joan Monica Zeis (nee Keiling), of Wentzville, MO, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Albert Edward Zeis; cherished daughter of the late Joseph Herman and Mildred Elizabeth Keiling; devoted mother of Monica Patricia Zeis, Barbara Ellen (Gerard) Utterback, and Albert Joseph Zeis; loving grandmother of Lisa (Kevin Barns) Genovese-Barns, Sarah (Dustin) LaGrand, Jason (Bridget) Zeis, Amanda (Steve) Hoppe, Shanna Utterback, Brandon (Alyssa) Utterback, Jordan (Heather) Utterback; treasured great-grandmother of Kamden Barns, Violet Utterback, Holly Utterback, Jayden Zeis, Joshua Hoppe, and Natalie Hoppe; dear sister of Joseph E. (the late Mary E.) Keiling; aunt of John (Lori) Keiling; great-aunt of Justin Davis, Makenzie Keiling, Jonathan Keiling, Addison Keiling, and Malorie Keiling. Preceded in death by her daughter, Mary E. Zeis and her son, Robert F. Zeis.
Joan was a loving mother and cherished matriarch, deeply devoted to her family and always bringing them together with her warm heart and home-cooked meals—though she firmly drew the line at tuna and liver. She had a passion for trying new recipes and was an avid Bingo player, always up for a game and a laugh. Joan’s love extended to her beloved dog, Zena, whom she selflessly gave up when moving into the nursing home, putting Zena’s well-being first as she always did for those she cared about. Deeply loved and admired, Joan will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Joan's name to American Lung Association.
