Joana M. Varela was born in Praia, Cabo Verde to the late Miguel Varela and Maria Semedo on February 28, 1939.
Joana leaves behind her loving, devoted husband Jose Lopes, children, Clarisse Varela Lopes, Maria DeJesus Lopes, Sergio Lopes, Ambroseo Varela Lopes, Teresa Varela Lopes, Domingas Lopes- Jacinto, and Zene Varela Lopes, thirty-five grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren, and a host of many more relatives and friends.
Joana M, Varela is preceded by her parents, and children, Alcides Lopes and Alice Varela Lopes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5:00-8:00PM located at St. Peters Parish, 311 Bowdoin Street, Boston, MA 02122. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January28, 2024 at St. Peters Parish, 311 Bowdoin Street, Boston, MA 02122 beginning at 10:00AM. Following the Mass will be interment to New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan, MA.
The family will gather at the address of 22 Beechwood Street, Dorchester, MA 02121 following the burial.
