JoAnn Baker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Cremation & Burial Society - Greater Canton Area on Jan. 30, 2026.
Jo Ann Marie Baker, age 90, passed away peacefully. She was born on May 18, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio, where her life story began and where she developed the values and interests that would remain with her throughout her life.

Jo Ann was a woman of quiet strength, grace and enduring curiosity. Over the years, she cultivated a deep love for golf, a pastime she truly enjoyed and pursued with enthusiasm. She was also a patinate collector of antiques, carefully curating pieces the reflected her appreciation for history, craftsmanship, and timeless beauty. Her collection told a story of patience, discernment, and a lifelong eye for detail.

Above all else, Jo Ann treasured her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose presence brought comfort and steadiness to those around her. Her love for her family was constant, and her pride in them was evident to all who know her.

She is survived by her beloved children, Allyson Schoen (Richard) and Charles Baker (Lindy). She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Lauren Ferrer (Jonathan), Christian McDonald, Morgan Boatwright (Jamarious), and Paige Adu Poku (Ivan). Jo Ann was especially delighted to be a great-grandmother to Dakota and Leilani Boatwright, and Stevie and Milo Adu Poku, each of whom brought her great joy.

Jo Ann will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love of tradition, and the quiet elegance with which she lived her life. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.

Private memorial service will be held in the Spring. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
