JoAnn Bartholomew

JoAnn Bartholomew, 89, of Pleasant Gap, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Oaks in Pleasant Gap. Born on November 12, 1935, in Frostburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Van and Jennie (Hunt) Beeman. On March 18, 1956, in Espy, PA, she married the love of her life, Gary E. Bartholomew, who preceded her in death on January 31, 2002.

JoAnn graduated from Curwensville High School in 1953. She was a true homemaker, occasionally working as a clerk, but she loved being a wife, mom, and caretaker. When she married Gary, she signed up to be a military wife, traveling and moving to various places, but she proudly took on that role for more than 25 years.

JoAnn was a member of the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church in Lemont. She spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed curling up with a good book and completing puzzles. She loved family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

JoAnn is survived by her four daughters, Wynne E. Gresiak and her husband, John, of State College, Dawn M. Stabley and her husband, Chris, of Lock Haven, Jennie E. Rogers and her husband, Rick, of Pleasant Gap, and Gail J. Dunmire and her significant other, Bob Kratzer, of State College; nine grandchildren, Rose Mary, William (Tori), Jason (Alissa), Nancy (Alex), Rickey (Tarrah), James "J.C." (Kate), Bryan (Chelsey), Michael (Alyssa), and Sarah (Anthony); and 18 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for next spring and will be announced. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.

The family would like to express their great appreciation and gratitude to the staff at both The Oaks facility and the Advantage Hospice team for the amazing care provided to JoAnn and her family.
