Jo Ann German Crowson, of
Harrington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Friday morning February 27, 2026.
She was born on September 16th, 1948, in
Milford, Delaware, the daughter of Norman German and Helen Rementer German. Joann grew up on German Road in the village of Concord, just outside of Seaford. Her childhood unfolded on the German farm, where open fields met long country roads and the sound of diesel engines marked the rhythm of daily life. Her father ran a large trucking operation that hauled tons of chickens across the region, and work was constant. Trucks moved in and out before dawn. Expectations were clear. Responsibility came early. It was a life rooted in discipline, loyalty, and effort.
She grew up with her sisters, Norma Lee Keiser and Mary Lou German Wilcoxson, and with too many cousins to count - a wide circle of family bound by blood, land, and shared memory. Their childhood marked by shared work and shared laughter, by independence earned and family ties that endured.
She later married Edward S. Crowson, and together they built a life grounded in commitment and perseverance. Edward passed away in 2003. In later years, she shared her life with Rodney Lee Whitmoyer, whose companionship marked another meaningful chapter. Rodney preceded her in death in 2016.
In her final years, life came full circle when she reconnected with Robert "Bobby" Bunting, a high school crush who had long remained part of her story. What began in youth found its way back to her. Bobby became her last great love, and she cherished him deeply until her passing.
Jo Ann made her home in Harrington and Seaford and devoted many years of service to the State of Delaware. She carried into her work the steadiness of her upbringing - dependable, resolute, and uncomplaining.
She is survived by her companion, Robert "Bobby" Bunting; her nephews, Ronald J. Keiser, Edward J. Keiser, Rusty Thomas(Toni), and Norman Wilcoxson; and extended family members Kristy Toffr (Taylor); Ryder and Reid; and her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, who extend the German family line across generations and carry her memory forward.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward S. Crowson; her companion, Rodney Lee Whitmoyer; and her sisters, Norma Lee Keiser and Mary Lou German Wilcoxson.
Those who knew Jo Ann recognized her strength. She did not announce it. She lived it - in loyalty kept, in duties fulfilled, in love shown through presence rather than proclamation.
Her life, like the road that bore her family's name, was steady and enduring, firmly rooted in Delaware soil.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with a public viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley Street,
Seaford, DE. Immediately following funeral services, burial will take place at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford.
