Joann E Gabel

Joann Elizabeth Gabel , of Newport, passed away December 29, 2025. She was born on
September 14, 1939 to the late Stanley T. and Daisy Reeder Gabel.
She graduated from Newport High School and Thompson Institute. She
was employed by New York Life Insurance, Proctor and Gamble, and lastly
the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg, PA as a Contract
Specialist where she retired after 32 years of employment.
She was an active member of Hope Eternal United Methodist Church,
Newport, PA; a member of Oliver Grange where she spent 10 years as
Master; Perry County Pomona Grange; and Pennsylvania State Grange.
She volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels until poor mobility intervened,
served as Judge of Elections in Juniata Township and later in Oliver
Township.
She was predeceased by brothers Stanley J. Gabel, Robert T. Gabel, and
John R. Gabel; nephew Richard Gabel and niece Shelley Hope Gabel.
She is survived by nieces Sandra Kay Williams, Melodee Kerr, Karla
Sheaffer, Roxanne Webster, and Susan Gabel; nephews S. Judd Gabel,
Robert W. Gabel, and John R. Gabel; 12 great nieces and nephews; and
16 great, great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, January 9, 2026 at the Hope Eternal United Methodist

Church with a viewing from 10 AM until the funeral at 11 AM. Burial will

follow in the Newport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to her church at 2 Burd Road,
Newport, PA 17074 are encouraged.
