Joann IRBY

IRBY, Joann C., 71, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Bessie Carter; and was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred C. Park. She is survived by her son, George S. Irby Jr.; grandson, Timothy S. Irby; granddaughter, Amanda B. Irby; sister, Peggy C. Samuels (Ed); brothers, Harry M. Carter (Helen), Harold T. Carter (Sue), Howard G. Carter (Joyce); and many extended family members. She was a devout Christian, mother and grandmother. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 25 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, where a funeral will be held on Thursday, January 26 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
