JoAnn Kappus

JoAnn Kappus, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025.
Born on August 23, 1932, in Indianapolis, she was the beloved daughter of the late John H. and Molly May (McGuire) Jones. JoAnn spent her life in Indianapolis, where she built a lasting legacy of warmth, wit, and resilience.
She worked as an accountant for Indiana Bell, retiring in 1985. Known for her sharp mind and attention to detail, JoAnn took great pride in her professional accomplishments and the friendships she made during her career.
JoAnn found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved playing cards, especially Euchre, and rarely turned down a game among friends. A passionate traveler, she visited nearly every place on her wish list-only Ireland remained unchecked. She had a special fondness for warm destinations, the excitement of casinos, and the thrill of watching horse races.
JoAnn leaves behind to treasure her memory her son, Steve Kappus; grandchildren, Steven M. II, Sheila, Samantha, Stephanie, and Shelby; and great-grandchildren, Levi, Ava, Ella, and Myah. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Jones and Wilma Jones.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am - 11:30 am on Wednesday, December 3, at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home.
She will be laid to rest privately at New Crown Cemetery.
