JoAnn Markwell

JoAnn Markwell, 70, of Niles, Ohio entered eternal life on Saturday March 28, 2026 at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

JoAnn was born on April 16, 1955 in Clarksburg, WV to the late Roy Lee and Louise (Wright) Warner. She attended school in West Virginia, McDonald, Howland, and Niles, where her family settled.

Affectionately known as Jojo or Aunt Jojo to many, she was the rare person who truly loved unconditionally, accepted everyone, was hard to anger, and quick to forgive.

JoAnn shared a love for the Dallas Cowboys with her son Roy and grandson Landon. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, listening to music, connecting through social media, and spending time with her extended family.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Robert (Rachel) Markwell and Roy (Ali) Markwell; grandsons Landon and Ryan Markwell; sister Carol Rose and her partner John Reeder; sister Mary Warner and her partner Israel Szabo; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Markwell, and their stillborn son Thomas; her partner Thamer Wright and their infant daughter Ashley Nicole; sister Sandra; brother Roger and his wife Kathy, and brother Danny.

Friends may call from 5 to 7PM Thursday and from 10 to 11AM Friday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
