Joann Cross Moffitt 88, of Hayesville, dedicated wife and mother, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025. She was a native of The Nantahala Community, graduated from Nantahala High School and attended Briartown Baptist Church. She met her future husband Crandall at a festival held at the Nantahala School. Her fondest memories were raising her own two children and the many children she babysat. Her kindness and nurturing also extended to her family, friends and animals.

Joann loved reading, enjoyed crafting and was a talented painter. She also enjoyed bird watching and collecting antique butter dishes. She prided herself in her neat appearance and fashion sense. She will be missed by all who loved her.

She was the daughter of the late Ed and Ethel Cross and wife of the late Crandall Moffitt who died May 31, 2019. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Waters, Katherine Passmore, and Wilma Day.

Survivng are a daughter; Suzann Ledford and husband, David of Hayesville; a son, Kent Moffitt and wife, Jackie of Murphy; a grandson, Justin Moffitt of Murphy; one sister-in-law, Minnette Moore of Hayesville; also survived by many nieces; and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, September 5, 2025 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Reverend S.J. Waters officiating.
