JoAnn Roessler, 94, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in Ferdinand, IN, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery. She and her late husband were longtime residents of Santa Claus, IN.

Born September 10, 1931, in Lamar, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late William and Flossie Griepenstroh. She was the second youngest of their seven children. JoAnn married James W. Roessler on August 26, 1951, and together they shared 70 years of marriage.

JoAnn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, dedicating her life to caring for those she loved. She served as a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, room mother, and an avid bridge player. Once her children were in college, she worked for 19 years as a reading aide at Howard Roosa Elementary School in Evansville, retiring in 1999.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, needlework, and baking-her greatest joy being the tradition of making Christmas cookies. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Fulda, IN.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Mark) Peterson of Bloomington, IN; her son, Ron (Gerianne) Roessler of Indianapolis, IN; her sister, Billie June York of Fenton, MO; grandchildren James Hus, Jr., Steven (Megan) Hus, and Meghann Roessler; great-grandchildren Gracen, Owen, and Logan; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James; her sisters Mary Ferguson, Bernadine Riggle, Bernice Duncan, and Emogene Stein; and her brother, Ray Griepenstroh.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Fulda, IN, with Pastor Derek Roe officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to, Trinity United Church of Christ – Cemetery Fund at PO Box 143 St. Meinrad, IN 47577.
