Catharine Roessler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of the Carolinas & Capital Funeral Home - Raleigh on Feb. 12, 2026.
How do you write an obituary for someone perfectly imperfect?

Catharine Stone Roessler, born August 8, 1968, was perfectly imperfect.

Cathy was prepared. She carried a purse that contained everything someone close to her could possibly need. I didn't realize the importance of this purse until the last couple of years, when I often found myself needing something that was buried deep inside it. The purse was more than a vessel bearing gifts; it was a metaphor for Cathy's life. She was always prepared and made sure those close to her were prepared for life.

Cathy had a keen sense of humor, often laughing at my jokes. Maybe I'm not that funny. Maybe it was just Cathy's sense of humor.

Cathy was giving. She grew to love Bruce Springsteen, football, and ski vacations. Cathy was known as "the skier" by her neurosurgeon. She didn't ski. To Cathy, it wasn't about the activities; it was about spending time with those she loved.

Cathy was intensely private. For those who truly knew her, they were lucky.

Cathy taught us many important lessons: be prepared, laugh a little each day, and find joy through others without losing yourself. Cathy's perfectly imperfect life was cut far too short.

Cathy, we'll meet again. For now, I'll see you in my dreams.

Cathy passed away on February 10, 2026, surrounded by her husband and their two sons.

She is survived by her husband, Todd, their sons Stewart and Miller, her father Bill Stone, and her brother Wes Stone. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Miller Stone.

A private family memorial will be held.
