JoAnn Saccavino Obituary
October 5, 1942 ~ May 21, 2024
JoAnn (Acampora) Saccavino, 81 of East Haven passed away after a short illness at Yale New Haven Hospital on May 21, 2024. She was born October 5, 1942 in New Haven to Frank and Elizabeth (Barker) Acampora.
JoAnn is survived by her three loving children, James V. Saccavino Jr. (Jill) of Branford, CT, Fred Saccavino (Mike) of Bristol, CT and Cheryl Saccavino (Sean) of Branford, CT. She is also survived by her three grandchildren she adored, Kaili Saccavino of East Haven, Chrystal Saccavino of W. Warwick, RI, and Toni Dutka of Branford.
JoAnn is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, James V. Saccavino Sr. (2020), her parents and two brothers, Robert and Frank Acampora.
JoAnn worked at Honeywell in Northford until her retirement. She was also a former member of the Riverside Ladies Auxiliary in East Haven, former Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and Brownie leader. Her favorite pastime was going to tag sales and thrift shops looking for bargains and sitting on her porch reading with her cat "Josie."
Family will receive friends on Friday May 24, 2024 from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 p.m. in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, CT. Burial will be at a later date.

Mrs Sac, one of the sweetest ladies ever. She always had a smile for everyone. She was like another Mother to me. We have laughed together, cried together. She was one of my Mothers closest friends. She will be missed by many. I hope Jimmy, Cheryl and Fred find comfort in knowing she is with Mr Sac now. I hope shes up there crocheting with my Mom.
I am so sorry for your loss, she was a great lady.

The world has lost a sweet, gentle woman. I will miss you, Cuz, I was hoping to visit you before you left. I will miss our chance meetings at Christmas fairs. Rest well, free of any pain.
