JoAnn Short

JoAnn Short, 94, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away on December 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with dementia.

JoAnn was born on December 31, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jake McCarley and Bennie Mae Lindley. She was a woman of strong faith and spent much of her life active in the church. JoAnn had a love for interior design and a special talent for making places feel welcoming and beautiful.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who supported her loved ones through every season of life, always offering love, encouragement, and strength. JoAnn enjoyed dancing-especially the jitterbug-and had fun being part of the Red Hat Club. Her joyful spirit, kindness, and guidance touched many lives and will not be forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Robbie Jo Dolnik; her brother, Jerry McCarley; and her sister, Jean Shepherd. She is survived by her grandsons, Jesse Ryan Dunn and Robert Nelson Dunn; her great-granddaughters, Rachel LeeAnn Behrens, Audrey Lynn Dunn, and Riley Marie Dunn; great-great-grandson, Ja'heem Mazi'eon Dunn; sister Joyce Terral; and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on December 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Cochran Funeral Home, 406 N. Yaupon Ave., Livingston, Texas.

JoAnn will be remembered for her love of family, her faith, her laughter, and the many hearts she touched along her journey.
