JoAnn G Walker, 85, of Rigby, Idaho passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at her home. JoAnn was born February 17, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Verdell Gallup and Philis Hoopes Gallup. She attended schools in Idaho Falls, Idaho and was a graduate of Idaho Falls High School.
JoAnn met David Morris Walker at Pond’s Lodge in Island Park, Idaho where he was working at a gas station. They started dating and were married on December 7, 1962, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their small children were also sealed to them at that time. David was in the United States Army during the first years of their marriage. Their little family followed him around the world during his service before returning to Idaho, settling in LaBelle, Idaho.
JoAnn worked at Innovative Design until they were purchased by King B. She then worked Idahoan Foods in Lewisville, Idaho for 10 years, retiring there because of arthritis.
JoAnn loved crocheting, quilting and embroidery. This is something she and her family spent many hours together doing. She loved puzzles, coloring, and word search.
JoAnn is survived by her children; Stuart Walker of Rigby, Idaho, Lola (Kevin) Jacobs of Lewisville, Idaho, William Walker of Rigby, Idaho and Jesse Walker of Rigby, Idaho. A sister, LaRee Sheets of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She has eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband David M. Walker.
The family will meet with friends on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, Idaho). The family will meet with friends again on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, then will proceed to the Sugar Salem Cemetery for a graveside service at 11:00 AM.
