JoAnn Neal Wells, 87, of Canton, NC passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, at Silver Bluff Village in Canton. She was a lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was born on March 9, 1937, to the late Samuel Clay and Faye (Marshall) Neal.

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Shufford Garland Wells, who passed in 2017; a son, Marshall Kimsey (Kim) Wells; a sister, Wanda Loudermilk.

JoAnn was the true definition of a homemaker. She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, cooking and canning, gardening, traveling with her sister, and serving others. JoAnn had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always thinking of others before herself. “To know her was to love her.” Her greatest legacy will be the unconditional love she expressed towards her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda McClure of Canton, NC; sons Neal Wells (Diane) of Marion, NC and Mease Wells (Anita) of Canton, NC; sister, Margaret Holcombe of Canton NC, and brother Robert (Bob) Clay Neal (Helen) of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren Mandy Lowe, Cristan McCall (Byron), Chad Wells, Brandon Jenkins, Holly Haley (Jason), Melanie Mooney (Brett), Tina Fortney (Taylor), Erin Valentine (Casey) and Lindsey Wells (Jordan); great grandchildren, Seth and Jaxson Lowe, Kellyn and Kinsley McCall, Garren, Grayson and Cash Wells, Austin Shaw, Boone and Elizabeth Haley, Evie and Isla Mooney, and Rhodes Fortney.
