JoAnn Werner, 85, of Akron, passed away on January 16, 2026. She was born on November 11, 1940 the daughter of the late Glenn and Kinsy Austin of Akron, Ohio. She was a woman of great faith and was a member of Maranatha Bible Church for many years. JoAnn was well known for her beautiful flower garden. She took great pride tending to her garden and won the prestigious Akron Beautification Award for 3 years in a row-in 2009, 2010, and 2011. JoAnn was a gifted seamstress and created many beautiful clothes for her family. She enjoyed playing euchre with her card club. She also enjoyed board games and working on jigsaw puzzles. JoAnn will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, sense of humor, and the love in her heart for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Robert L. Werner; and 10 siblings.
JoAnn is survived by her loving family, daughters Julia (Joe) Overholt and Teresa (Dave) Banks; grandchildren Joseph Overholt II, Jeannette (Bryan) Treisch, Jessica (Nathaniel) Kendrick, Zachary (Rachel) Banks; great-grandchildren Hayden Overholt, Derek Treisch, Autumn Treisch, Brandon Treisch, Landon Treisch, Jonathan Treisch, Abigail Treisch, Isabella Treisch, River Banks, Atlas Kendrick, Navi Kendrick, and Saegis Kendrick; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held at Maranatha Bible Church (1424 Killian Rd. Akron 44312) on Saturday, January 31st, at 11:00am with a lunch afterwards.
