Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy Chapel on May 31, 2025.
Joanna Easterling, lovingly known to most as Jo, was born on July 4, 1986, to Johney Easterling and Donessia (Bradshaw) Easterling in
Cincinnati, Ohio. On Monday, May 26, 2025, Joanna was called home to be reunited with her beloved father Johney and to rest eternally in the arms of the Lord.
Jo was preceded in death by her grandparents Bernard and Mable Bradshaw and George Easterling Sr., all of whom now welcome her with open arms.
From an early age, Jo dedicated her life to Christ, becoming a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, shaping her into the compassionate and giving woman so many cherished.
Jo was educated in the Cincinnati Public School system, attending Bramble Elementary and graduating from Shroder High School. It was during her junior year at Shroder that she met the love of her life, Charles Lawrence Jr. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in faith, mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering love, a true example of old-school devotion that endured the test of time.
Jo began working in customer service at a young age, holding roles at White Castle and Stride Rite. Her warmth and professionalism carried her through successful tenures at Macy's Call Center, Time Warner Cable, Omnicare, and ultimately Cincinnati Children's Hospital, where her kind nature continued to impact countless lives.
A nurturer by heart and the cornerstone of her family, Jo was known for her selflessness. She was the first to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or provide a comforting shoulder. She often placed the needs of others above her own, finding fulfillment in the joy and well being of her loved ones.
Jo had a passion for collecting glasses, handbags, and gym shoes that reflected her unique style and vibrant personality. In her quiet moments, she found joy in writing, a creative outlet for her kind spirit and thoughtful mind.
While Jo wore many hats in life-daughter, sister, aunt, and friend-she took the most pride in being a devoted mother and wife. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she poured her heart into every moment she shared with them.
Jo leaves to celebrate and honor her memory: her devoted husband Charles Lawrence Jr; her cherished sons Treyvon, Travis, and Taj Lawrence; her loving mother Donessia Easterling; her brother Curtis Underwood Sr.; nephews Curtis (CJ) Underwood Jr. and Cameron Underwood; grandmother Lucille Easterling; her best friend and sister by choice Amber Scott; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her presence.
Joanna Easterling will be remembered not only for the love she gave, but for the legacy she leaves behind-one of strength, compassion, loyalty, and grace. She will be deeply missed and eternally loved.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy (45231). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
Joanna will be laid to rest at Walnut Hills Cemetery.
