Joanne Elsbernd Basse of Ft. Mitchell, KY, died on November 29, 2025, after battling cancer with grace and peace. She was born in Covington, KY, to Bernard Elsbernd and Lucille (Herrmann) Elsbernd who predeceased her. She lived life with great compassion and generosity for all people and living creatures. Those who knew her will be forever changed by her deep caring for the poor, the oppressed and anyone suffering misfortune of any kind.

Joanne was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Basse, with whom she travelled extensively and lived for nine years in Paris. She was also predeceased by her sister-in-law, Judy Elsbernd, and a nephew, Charles Elsbernd. She is survived by her brothers, Tom Elsbernd (Carol Gaukel) and Steve Elsbernd (Mary Ellen), step-daughter Allison Tomusk, step-son Craig Basse, nieces Tracy Schaeffer and DeeDe Kamphaus, nephews David Elsbernd and Matt Elsbernd, along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service and celebration of Joanne's life will be held in the near future. If desired, memorials in Joanne's honor may be made to the Kenton County SPCA or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
