It's a sad day when someone with a major influence on your life passes away. You know that the next part of their journey will be a blessing not only for them, but more so, for all the folks that have already arrived. I don't know that I ever referred to her as JoAnne, most likely Mrs. Boyd, your Mom or Rich's Mom. She raised a lot of boys, not just her own. But more of a pack of us that went to high school, played ball from St. Joes through Evergreen, ran track, 4 wheeled together or chased around East County when it was still quite rural. She only thought the best of us, even though she knew the truth, that we may show up on Santa's Naughty list for late night swims and lifting at the Landover Club. She overlooked all of that and focused on her faith and how she might put a positive spin on it towards all of us. She was always a Godly Women that wore her heart on her sleeve and spoke openly about Christ. Before we departed, she always told us that we were in her prayers. All were always welcome, and you never went hungry around the Boyd house or at Yo' Place Yogurt. She was a fantastic cook, and into healthy things. I can say that I ate many a reject muffin or a Rubin Sandwich that would not pass the appearance test , Mr. Boyd's requirements. My life is better because of the Boyd's. I can only hope that these things reflect some of what she gave us in our present day to day life. She is in a much better place. May she rest in peace and continue to watch over all of us. Blessings to the Boyd family. Edgar and Caroline Butsch
