Joanne Davis Clift

CLIFT, Joanne Davis, age 81, of Rhoadesville, formerly of Beaverdam, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Louise Davis; sister, Dorothy Davis Kennon of Mine Run; and husband, William Clift Jr., formerly of Richmond.

Joanne graduated with honors from Orange County High School. She attended the University of Maryland and then went on to graduate with honors from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Richmond. Her first 15 years were spent managing the surgical offices of Drs. Barnes, Reed, Massie, Coxe, Conquest, McGuire and Crouch at St. Luke's Hospital. Joanne retired after 50 years in nursing management positions in state regulatory agencies, specialized rehab and long-term care services in a multi-state area. While working for Anthem, she held RN licensure in 15 states.

Nicknamed and called "Nannie" by her family, her survivors include a sister, Mary Frances Davis Herndon (Irving) of Rhoadesville; two nieces, Susan Kennon Burnett of Mine Run and Beth Herndon Kent (Kenny) of Rhoadesville; a nephew, Gordon Kennon (Rebecca) of Unionville; four great-nieces and three great-nephews.

Having traveled extensively, she enjoyed planning trips and traveling with family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Antioch Baptist Church, Unionville, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
