Joanne Handley Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 8, 2025.
Joanne Handley beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 27th 2025. She was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and endless kindness, whose life was guided by unconditional love.

Born to Paul and Ann Herbka, Joanne was raised with a strong sense of compassion and humility that she carried throughout her life. She was devoted to her family and lived her faith through her actions never seeking attention but always finding ways to help others.

Joanne had a special way of making everyone feel seen and valued. Whether through a home cooked meal, thoughtful note, or a simple act of care, she touched the lives of all who knew her. Her presence was calm and steady, a reflection of her gentle heart and her belief that love is best shown through kindness.

She was a devoted wife, a loving and selfless mother, and a faithful sister and friend. Moreover, she was a proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren whom she adored. Her greatest joy came from her family, particularly her children, whom she taught by example to forgive quickly, love deeply, and lead with compassion. Her humility and grace were an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Joanne's life was also marked by her unwavering faith. It carried her through difficult times and shaped the way she viewed the world without judgment and with open arms. She truly believed that none of us are better than another and that every person deserves love and understanding.

She is survived by her loving husband, William Handley; her children, William, Michael and Patrick; her sister, Mary Ann Frick and many dear family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ann Herbka, and her brother, Paul Jr. Herbka.

Though she is no longer with us, Joanne's gentle spirit and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Colette's Catholic Church on Friday October 10th at 11am, followed by a burial service at Holy Spirit Cemetery in Parma, Ohio at 1pm.
