Jody was born on December 20, 1947, in Newark NJ to John and Marion Bernoskie Sullivan. She was proud of her Ukrainian and Irish heritage.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 56-years, Pete and her "favorite" daughter Carey Jennifer Wacker. Carey and her husband Greg Wacker have two beautiful children Tatiana & Dutch Wacker of Hanover, Pa. The Grandkids were the love of Jody's life. To them she will always be "Wise Grandma."
Jody's sister Maureen Gatto along with her husband Jay of Uxbridge Ma., brother Peter Sullivan and wife Janet of Raleigh NC and her youngest brother Michael Sullivan and wife Faith of Norton Ma., will miss their big sister dearly.
Jody was a Registered Nurse earning her degree from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, MA.
Her life leaves an everlasting imprint on all of those who knew her. Jody was a loyal "best friend" to many. She never postponed Joy. Through her love for gardening, needlepoint, traveling with Pete, especially on their Harley on 3-cross country trips with friends, and her passion for literature she was always willing to sit for hours for "conversation."
Her motherly wisdom was forever these words: "Do good, be smart & have fun!" and "What happens at Grandma's stays at Grandma's"
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Shallotte, NC, Friday July 18 th at 10:00 am followed by a ceremony at St Brendan's columbarium. A celebration reception will be held immediately following the service in St. Brendan's Hall with all welcome.
Jody was a volunteer with the Belgian Malinois Rescue Organization. Donations in her memory may be made to American Belgian Malinois Rescue, in care of ABMR, Inc., PO Box 52, Amherst Junction, WI 54407. Also, the family encourages in kind donation in Jody's memory to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice, 955 Mercy Lane SE, Bolivia, NC 28422
