Joanne Barbara Marchitto, 76, of Orange and Milford, beloved wife of the late Michael Joseph Marchitto, passed away on November 7th, 2025. Born on March 18th, 1949, in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Gerold and Lillian Sullivan.
Joanne was the heart and soul of her family. She always opened her home to any family and friends for however long you needed. It was a place where everyone felt welcome, cared for, and deeply loved. She had a special gift for bringing people together, whether through her incredible cooking, her wise yet pointed quick wit and contagious laugh with a great smile. Joanne was an alumna of the first class of St. Joseph High School and studied at Yale to become a radiologist and later Southern Connecticut State University where she earned her degrees in Social Work. She took pride in her career at Bridges Healthcare and especially the West Haven school system as an extremely well-respected children and family counselor, where she touched so many lives. But most importantly, she really enjoyed travelling the world with her husband and best friend.
Joanne loved being Nana more than anything. She delighted in watching her grandchildren grow, sharing stories, laughter, and unconditional love with each of them. Her family was her world, and she was theirs. Together her and her devoted husband Mike raised two wonderful sons, whom she adored beyond measure. Her eldest, Michael Joseph Marchitto, and his wife Kathryn blessed her with two grandchildren - Lilly and Luca Marchitto - who brought her endless joy and pride. Her youngest son, Andrew Marchitto, and his wife Bridgett Smith-Marchitto, gave Joanne a blended family of four beloved grandchildren - Joseph, Ribecka, Leia, and Violet - each of whom held a special place in her heart. Joanne is also survived and loved by her sisters Maureen Pernal, Susan Connolly, Laure Defeo and brother Dave Sullivan and their families.
