Joanne Linnea Modlin, 70, of Perry, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Perry Chapel. Burial will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association in Joanne’s name.
Joanne was born on March 19, 1955, in Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Barbara (Jamison) Modlin. She attended Perry High School and later attained a master’s degree.
She worked for many years at Meredith Corporation until her retirement.
Joanne was a true Hawkeye football fan and also enjoyed watching basketball. She loved visiting with her Texas family when they came to visit, and they enjoyed going out to eat together. She had a strong sense of humor and cherished the time she spent with her friends and family.
She is survived by her brother, Steve (Jane) Modlin of Dawson; their children, Adam Modlin (Yadira Perez) of Dawson and Zach Modlin of Dawson; her brother-in-law, Terry (Carol) White of Shady Shores, Texas; their children, Jennifer (Karl) Atencio of Texas and Kristi White (Clint) Cranford; and their daughters, Mychal and Landry Hill. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Barbara Modlin; and her sister, Janet White.
