Joanne P. (Edgell) Reynolds, 75, of East Liverpool, Ohio, passed away surrounded by her devoted and loving family on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Heritage Valley Beaver.
She was born on March 27, 1950, in East Liverpool, the daughter of Betty and Paul Edgell.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Betty (Barrett) and Paul Edgell; brother Thomas Edgell; stepson Dwane Reynolds; and step-grandson Ian Reynolds.
She graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1968 and lived in the area her entire life. She was very committed to her church committee and took pride in attending Holy Trinity Parish. Joanne found immense joy assisting in numerous church events, cooking soups, distributing dinners to those in need, assisting with church picnics, organizing children's games, and participating in anything she could be involved in. She began her professional career at East Liverpool City Hospital as a nurse's aide, then later worked at Hall China for over forty years before retiring. She also served as the recording secretary and treasurer of the Ohio State Buckeye Conference.
She will be missed by her husband, Howard Reynolds; son Andrew (Stacie) Black; sister Vicki Chiaverini and companion David of Orlando Fl; granddaughter Kayley Black; nephew Nicholas (Michael) Selepec and family of Orlando Fl; Niece Paula Dahmer and her husband Eric and family of Minnesota; a blended family of three step-sons Howard, Timothy, and Miles Reynolds; four grandchildren, Miles and his wife Stephany, Malorie, Jennifer, and April, along with many great grandchildren.
"It is more blessed to give than to receive" Acts 20:35
A shining light, she formed numerous wonderful friendships and connections in the community. Renowned for her kindness, she has helped many, including complete strangers, throughout her life. She cherished spending time with friends and family. Additionally, Joanne enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, attending fundraisers, working on puzzles, watching wildlife, and had a fondness for Snoopy. She will miss her monthly outings with her classmates of ELHS class of'68 and the many adventures she took on.
Over the years, she enjoyed taking many friends to visit Homer Laughlin to purchase colorful Fiesta ware. Joanne was an incredible cook who prepared meals for everyone she knew. With a passion for shopping, she loved going to yard sales and flea markets. Never knowing a stranger, Joanne would strike up conversations with anyone she encountered. With her natural ability to connect with others, everyone felt welcomed. She had a knack for finding common ground that often led to long discussions. Her openness not only enriched her life but also created a sense of community wherever she went. Joanne touched the lives of many with her kind and giving spirit. Her absence leaves a void in our hearts. She is now resting in the kingdom of Heaven.
Services to honor Joanne's life will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral and Cremation Specialists in Calcutta. Visitation will be held from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m., with a service following at 8:00 p.m. officiated by Father Leo of the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
