Joanne Catherine Shellie nee Marburger, born June 8, 1931, died of natural causes surrounded by her children on August 7, 2024. Joanne was a descendent of the historic village of Zoar, Ohio, a separatist community (1817-1898). Joanne was an accomplished educator of high school English. She enjoyed her winters in Scottsdale, Arizona and her summers on Lake Huron in Port Austin, Michigan. She loved continuing her family tradition of pretzel making, boating, traveling, nature and animals. She was a dedicated, devoted mother, wife and sister.
She is survived by her children: Pamela Grim (Dave), Michael Shellie (Cynthia), Krista Shellie (Lon Stewart), David Shellie (Karen); sisters Susan Casto and Betty Glaserman; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: her husbands D. Gene Shellie (1951-1991) and Wilford L. Marker (1997-2023); and brother David Marburger.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on 10/18/24 at the Caseville Township Cemetery followed by a celebration of life at the Pasta House in Kinde, MI at 12:00pm.
