Our dear mother JoAnne Hill Thomson passed away peacefully on November 23, 2022, at the age of 87.
JoAnne was born in Boise, Idaho on March 2, 1935, to Jerry and Lucille Hill. She married Gerald Thomson in the Logan Temple on November 19, 1953. Gerald passed away on January 22, 2016.
JoAnne was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was loved by all she came in contact with. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and blessed many with her compassionate service. She raised four children: RaeAnne, Gerald Jr., Jay, and Alan.
She loved serving her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mom enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren play sports. You could always hear her loud cheers from the stands. She also was an avid Jazz fan. She worked at the Davis Co. School lunch program as a cook. She will be missed for her good humor and fun personality and her Sunday meals, and for her carefully wrapped Christmas gifts with big bows. She was a very talented singer and blessed many with her beautiful voice and love for the Savior in the hymns.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband Gerald her son Jay, Parents and a sister, Christine.
Mom will be remembered by her children RaeAnne (Marcus) Blood, Gerald Jr. (Janita) Thomson, Alan (Aleesa) Thomson, 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
JoAnne is survived by her sister Judy Willits, and a brother Scott Hill.
Special thanks to the Hospice staff and Thatcher Brook Nursing staff who gave loving care for mother in her final days.
Funeral Services will be held Friday December 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Suntrails Ward, 2160 W. 1000 N. in Layton, Utah 84041. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah 84041 and 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Services will be livestreamed by scrolling to the bottom of JoAnne's obituary page at lindquistmortuary.com.
Interment-Randolf Cemetery.
