Joanne Tornow, 83, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Heritage Square, in Dixon. She worked as a bank teller for many years and as a caregiver for the mentally handicapped.
Joanne was born on May 5, 1941, in Princeton, IL, the daughter of Phillip and Charlotte (Piacyzk) Byczynski. She married James Tornow on September 3, 1960. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1994. Joanne loved going to garage and estate sales, playing video poker, taking care of her beloved dog, Bailey, and keeping a clean house. She had a strong faith and unwavering honesty. Joanne enjoyed spending most of her time with her best friend and twin sister, Joan.
Joanne is survived by her daughters, Denise Conner and Diane (Rich) Johnson; twin sister, Joan Estes; sister, Phyllis (Russ) Brown; sister-in-law, Bonnie Etheridge; three granddaughters, Andrea (Brook) Meier, Allison (Jakob) Harrison, Katie (Alex) Larrabee; and five great-grandchildren, Evie, Eiley, Ruby, Reeva, Lyla.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Bradley Tornow; son-in-law, Charlie Conner; and her beloved dog, Bailey.
A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, in Dixon, with Fr. Timothy Draper, officiating. Private Burial will take place at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton, IL. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be directed to Heritage Square.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
