Joanne Vandenabeele Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Joanne Covert Vandenabeele passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the age of 79, after a long illness.
Born on January 13, 1946, to James and Joanne (née Woods) Allen, Joanne spent her early childhood in Madison Heights before moving to Algonac around the age of 10. She graduated from Algonac High School and later attended St. Clair County Community College. Joanne built a successful career as an interior decorator-a passion she pursued while raising her children and continued until her retirement at age 65.
Joanne married Bill Vandenabeele in May 1984 in St. Clair. They raised their children and shared almost 30 years of marriage until his passing on May 1, 2013.
For many years, Joanne was a devoted resident of Algonac and Marysville before relocating to Romeo, where she spent the last four years of her life. A woman of faith, she was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Marysville.
Joanne is survived by her children, Angela Kolarik, James (Genna) Vandenabeele, and Chris Vandenabeele; her grandchildren, Paul Kolarik, Thomas Kolarik, Kol Kolarik, Ivy Vandenabeele, and James Vandenabeele; and her sister, Jan (Hugh) Jackson.
