David Robert Petit, 58, of Marine City, MI and formerly of Algonac, MI passed away in his home on August 20, 2025. He was born July 30, 1967 in Detroit, MI, Dave was the beloved middle child of the late Garold "Buck" and Gail (nee Espel) Petit. Dave was a graduate of Algonac High School, Class of 1985. Dave had a profound love for his two boys and gave unconditionally of himself to ensure they were loved and cared for. His life was marked by a deep love for nature and the simple joys it offered. He found peace in the woods and on the water-whether hunting in the early morning light or casting a line into the lake. Music was another companion in his life, providing both joy and reflection. His loving wife Michelle was a blessing he could never have imagined, and with their faithful dog, Norman, the three of them found serenity and happiness in long car rides, or a stroll along a shoreline. Those who knew Dave remember him as kind-hearted and thoughtful, with a sense of humor that could light up a room. He had strong opinions and wasn't afraid to share them, but beneath that strength was a soft heart that cared deeply for others. He had a fondness for conversation with his elders, even strangers, loved to be around young children, and Dave cherished quiet moments with those closest to him. Dave is survived by his loving and devoted wife Michelle (nee LeCour) Petit, sons Dave Petit and Kenneth Petit, siblings Philip (Angie Smolinski) Petit, Cyndie (James Jarzombek) Busuttil, Lisa McGuire, and Brian Petit, sisters-in-law Cathy Donna, Dale LeCour, and Lori LeCour, nieces and nephews Jennifer and Ken Snyder and their daughter Mallory, Jeffery and Amy Donna and their daughter Danielle, Brett and Megan Busutill and their children Brynn and Parker, Paige and Luke McGuire, and Riley and Devin Petit. As the middle child of five siblings, Dave held a special place in the family, often described as having the biggest heart among them. His absence will leave a physical void when loved ones gather together, but memories of his laughter, warmth and presence will continue to bring comfort. Though we cannot understand why he was taken so soon, we hold him close in our hearts and find peace in believing he is now reunited with our parents. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him. A private family committal service has been held. A celebration of life will be held at later date. Arrangements by the Young Gilbert Funeral and Cremation Services, Algonac.
