Joanne Beth (Hughes) Wright, age 77, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND
Joanne Hughes was born on December 3, 1946, to Joseph and Hilma (Harstad) Hughes at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. As a young girl she grew up on the family farm located in Savannah Township of Becker County. She attended Shady Knoll Country School and Park Rapids Schools. In 1960, she moved with her parents to Crystal, MN, and graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1964. She attended Minnesota School of Business for keypunching and worked for Leslie Paper and Honeywell. She married Rick Wright on March 7, 1970, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN. They had 2 children, Beth and Roy. In 1978 the family moved to Park Rapids. In January of 1981 Joanne started working at Park Rapids Middle School as a secretary and retired in December of 2013. After retiring, Joanne enjoyed having time to enjoy other activities such as being involved in the church, playing games, meeting friends, etc...
Joanne is survived by her daughter, Beth (Ron) Hensel; son, Roy Wright; grandchildren, Hailey (Dennis Johnson), Kyle (Maggie Hart), and Megan Hensel; and sister, Nancy (Greg) Tigue; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Hilma Hughes; husband, Ricky Wright; brothers, J. Wesley, Alfred, and Melvin Hughes; sisters, infant Pansy, Ethel Massie, Tilda McComas, Helen Pfeifer, and Hilma Wright; nephews, Chuck, Howard, and David; and nieces, Donna and Kimberly.
