Joaquim Linhares Obituary

Joaquim was born on July 23,1940 in Sao Joao de Loure, Albergaria-a-Velha, Portugal, son of the late Manuel Pires Linhares and Emilia Dias Melo. Joaquim immigrated to the United States in 1973 and resided in West Hartford for over 40 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, a member of the Hartford Portuguese Club and the Hartford Portuguese Soccer Team. Joaquim will be remembered for his love of wine making, playing the card game of sueca and watching his favorite soccer team S.L Benfica.
Joaquim is survived by his wife, Maria Do Ceu Linhares; his daughter, Isabel Linhares; his son, Paulo Linhares; his mother-in-law, Maria Conceicao Ribeiro da Silva; and his brothers, Jose Linhares and Manuel (Isilda) Linhares of Portugal. He also leaves numerous family members in Connecticut and Portugal.
Joaquim was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Antonio Linhares, Francisco and Esmeraldina Linhares, and Gloria Linhares, all of Portugal.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Hartford on Saturday, September 28, at 11:00 a.m. Please meet directly at Church. A Christian Burial will be held in Portugal.
