Joaquin Campos Herrera

Burlington – Joaquin Campos Herrera, 92, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 at his home. He was born in Tecomatlan, Puebla February 17, 1934 to Jose Campos Ortega and Teresa Herrera, and was the husband of 67 years to Irma Villa Castelan, who survives.

Joaquin made his life farming and he enjoyed spending time outdoors in nature. He was a good cook, sharing his food with family and friends. Joaquin brought his family to the United States from Mexico and they settled in New York. He recently moved to North Carolina to be near some of his family. He was devoted to his family and his greatest love was spending time with them. Music was important to him and he enjoyed all kinds.

Survivors other than his wife, Irma Villa Castelan of the home; sons, Ramiro (Arcelia) Campos, Silvino (Maria) Campos and Evelio (Luz Maria) Campos; daughters, Guadalupe (Aaron) Mendoza, Reyna (Ruperto) Chavez, Margarita (Elisendo) Campos, Teresa (Juan) Campos, Francisca (Mario) Campos, Irma Campos Villa and Esmeralda (Rodrigo) Campos; 45 Grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren; sisters, Josefa Campos, Reyna Campos and Olga Campos; brother, Adelfo Campos and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alberto Compas Villa; sisters, Carmen Campos, Adelaida Campos, Rebecca Campos, Margarita Campos and Rosalba Campos; brothers, Ramiro Campos and Encarnacion Campos.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 11:00AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Rev. Vincent Rubino, OFM Conv. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00PM in Linwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Friday at his son’s home, 1316 Sandy Cross, Burlington, NC 27217 and other times at the home.
