Born in Havana on May 14, 1940, passed away in Miramar, Florida, on November 22, 2024. He was a farmer, businessman, and political leader, serving as CEO of The Campol Group, a political scientist, public opinion researcher, and political consultant. His career included significant roles such as President of Agricultural Producers (FEDEAGRO), President of the Sugar Mills of Venezuela (CENAZUCA), Deputy Minister of Information and Tourism, and Director of the Jesuit Institute Pedro Arrupe.
Joaquín left a legacy of commitment and dedication, both in his professional and personal life. He was a loving husband to Iraida Beatriz Barrios de Pérez and a devoted father to his children: Joaquín Alfredo, Alejandro Javier, Ana Gabriela, Julián Andrés, Iraida del Carmen, Emma Carolina, and Alberto José. His children-in-law: Maythée, Aurirosa, Arturo, Renee, and Kara. His love and wisdom were also reflected in his grandchildren: Joaquín, Gabriel, Esteban, Catalina, Fabiola, Christian, María Fernanda, Julián Ignacio, Alexander, Daniel, Nicolás, Samuel, Sebastián, Sabrina, Simón, Adrián, Ava Rose, Aaron, Anabel, and Abigail.
In his life, Joaquín was known for his integrity and his ability to inspire those around him. He left an indelible mark on each of his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren: Joaquin Augusto Pérez and Lucia Marie Thomas. His sister Carmen Pérez Rodríguez, his brothers-in-law Alfredo and Matilde Barrios, and other family members will also deeply feel his absence.
Joaquín was a man of deep Catholic faith. He studied at Colegio Belén in Havana, and Jesuit teachings accompanied him throughout his life. He firmly believed in the words of Teilhard de Chardin: "In eternity we were; at birth, we began to exist. To exist is to be in time. And at death, we cease to exist, but we do not cease to be. We are spiritual beings living an earthly adventure."
Family and friends are invited to bid farewell to Joaquín. The wake will take place at Boyd-Panciera Funeral Home in Pembroke Pines on December 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For those unable to attend, we are offering LIVESTREAMING of the service on Friday, December 13, 2024 starting at 12:00 PM. The link to attend virtually is on the Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care Facebook page at: BOYD-PANCIERA FAMILY FUNERAL CARE LIVESTREAM.
The following day, December 14, a Mass in Joaquín's honor will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at the Ignatian Spirituality Center, Casa Manresa Miami. Afterward, we will accompany his remains to Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery at 1 p.m. on December 14. His spirit, example, and teachings will remain forever in our hearts.

In Loving Memory of Joaquin
It is with great sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences to Iraida and Joaquin´s family. Joaquin was more than a political adviser to our government in Aruba; he was a dear friend whose warmth and laughter touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joaquin´s dedication to serving the Aruban people was unwavering. He approached his work with a clear sense of purpose, a good heart, and an unyielding commitment to making a positive impact. His ever-present smile and sharp humor reminded us all that even in the midst of challenges, there was always room for joy and hope.
He truly loved Aruba and its people, and his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. While his passing leaves an irreplaceable void, the memories of his kindness, passion, and dedication will forever inspire us.
May his family find strength and solace during this difficult time, knowing that Joaquin´s spirit will always remain a cherished part of our hearts.
With deepest sympathy,
Robertico Croes and family
