Our dearest mother, Jodi Poythress Stuart, peacefully entered eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2025, at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Burlington, NC and Navarre Florida, she was a true beacon of warmth and strength, known for her kindness, sharp wit, resilience, vast vocabulary, knowledge of history, finding the most humor in laughing at her own jokes and her overall hospitality.
She poured her heart into raising her children, Zachary and Patrick Stuart, always offering a listening ear, a comforting embrace and making all their childhood memories so full of magic. She was also a retired veteran from the United States Air Force. Jodi had a deep love for cooking and baking, gardening, western movies, a huge love for animals, particularly dogs, but most of all loved her precious grandchildren.
She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her spirit: her children, youngest son Patrick Stuart, oldest son Zachary Stuart and his wife Dana Stuart, her grandchildren Faithlyn Chase and Charles Stuart. She is remembered by her brothers, Keith, David (Cindy) and Mark Poythress, a special niece Courtney Phillippie, lifelong friend Jim Evans along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Shelton and Ruby Poythress, and by Judy Poythress, her sister-in-law and beloved wife of Keith.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Terry Rickard with military honors. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and other times at her brother Mark’s home. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to AuthoraCare Collective (Hospice), 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215. A special thank you to the Hospice staff for their kind and loving care during Jodi’s illness.
