Jody A. Dombrowski, a dedicated dance educator and beloved member of his community, passed away suddenly on June 16, 2025, in Flemington, New Jersey. Born on May 9, 1967, in Buffalo, New York, Jody devoted his life to the art of dance, inspiring countless students throughout his remarkable career.
Jody spent over 30 years working for various dance studios, teaching modern, lyrical, and jazz. His passion for dance took him from Buffalo to Canada and eventually led him to New York City, where he taught for three and a half years. He later relocated to Iowa for seven years before settling in Flemington in 2022. He shared his love of dance with students and studios across the United States and Canada, and most recently co-led the US team at the 2024 World Dance Competition in Poland. His influence in the dance world is felt far and wide, as he inspired both young dancers and seasoned performers alike.
A graduate of the Buffalo School of Performing Arts, Jody continued his education at SUNY-Buffalo, where he further honed his craft. He was known for his sassy, dramatic personality, combined with a deeply loving nature that made him cherished by his students, friends, and family.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jody loved to travel and explore new places, often hosting friends and family in his home. An enthusiast for holiday celebrations, he particularly adored decorating during Christmas, while honoring Polish traditions that were close to his heart. In addition to his love for dance, Jody was a proud "chicken dad," caring for many chickens in Hunterdon County, an endeavor that brought him much happiness. He was dedicated to his family and he absolutely loved being a dad to his son, Micah - watching him compete in many tennis matches, a joy that he treasured.
Jody is survived by his devoted husband, Dr. William W. Terry, IV; his son, Micah Dombrowski-Terry; and his siblings, Tina Tartaglia of Buffalo, NY, and Kenny Dombrowski and family of Las Vegas, NV. He is also mourned by his sister and brother-in-law, Holly and Greg Schloerb of Buffalo, NY, and his niece, Marissa Dombrowski of Buffalo, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Florence Sophia (Krasinski) Dombrowski, who undoubtedly instilled in him the values of hard work and creativity that defined his remarkable life.
Jody A. Dombrowski leaves behind a legacy of passion for dance and a profound impact on those fortunate enough to know him. His vibrant spirit will be forever missed but fondly remembered in the hearts of his loved ones and the dance community he cherished so deeply.
