Joe Allen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tutor Funeral Home - Magee on Mar. 30, 2026.
Joe Harold Allen passed away peacefully at home on March 29, 2026. He was born on April 22, 1937, to the late Preston B. Allen and Alberta Ware Allen.

He was a Christian man whose life reflected the values he held dear, and he carried himself with a gentle spirit and a friendly nature, making others feel welcome in his company. Joe earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and went on to build a life through hard work, determination, and a strong sense of responsibility. He took pride in the work he did and the life he created with his family.

Those who knew Joe will remember him as a friendly man who enjoyed simple pleasures and valued the company of others. He especially enjoyed going out to eat fish and chitterlings, meeting his friends for coffee, and making the rounds to the banks around town to visit with friends and acquaintances. He also cherished his quiet time alone with his cows, finding comfort and contentment in those peaceful moments. His days were filled with familiar routines, meaningful conversations, and the kind of everyday joys that gave his life richness and purpose.

Joe loved going to the fish house with his family and enjoyed all the meet-and-greets at the banks. Joe also loved going to the coffee shop and greeting all of his cows. So many family and friends loved him and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Alberta Allen. and his loving wife, Madelyn Everett Allen.

He is survived by his son, Joe H. Allen II (Jennifer); daughters, Tamara Bullard (Kevin), and Terri Sullivan; grandchildren, Gage Sullivan (Ronica), Taylor Veazey (Dalton), Pricilla McRaney (Connor), Tristan Vanasse, and Peyton Bullard (Taylor); and great-grandchildren, John Patton Veazey, Pacey Veazey, Beckham Sullivan, Sarah Rose Vanasse, Bosswell McRaney, and Memphis McRaney.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Magee, MS, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. The service will be at 4:00 PM with Bro. Buddy Keyes and Bro. Ryan Wade officiating. Interment will follow at the Magee City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Magee.
