Dateline: Orange Grove, Texas
Joe Flake Arnold, 76, of Orange Grove, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on October 14, 2025.
He was born on February 19, 1949, in Mathis, Texas, to Robert Lewis Arnold Sr. and Viola Pearl (Harpole) Arnold. Joe graduated as Salutatorian of his high school class, where he played snare drum in the band and excelled as an athlete-serving as quarterback in football, center field in baseball, and center in basketball. He was also an officer in the Future Farmers of America (FFA), where he raised and showed champion Duroc hogs, beginning a lifelong love of animals and ranching.
Joe went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M University–Kingsville) in May 1971. Over the course of his life, he worked in retail, the oil and gas industry, and ranching.
Joe was a dedicated worker, friend, and father who took pride in raising his five children. He loved fishing, hunting, sports, and caring for his animals-especially his beloved Boston Terriers and Min Pins, including his latest, Artimus.
He is survived by his children, Lacey O'Neal (Mike) of Midlothian, Texas; Ashley Jimenez of Hurst, Texas; Joe Dale Arnold of Texarkana, Texas; and Owen Arnold (Tania) of Midlothian, Texas; and seven incredible grandchildren. He is also survived by his longtime companion and wife, Sandra Arnold; brother, Bobby Arnold (Jimmie Sue); sisters, Jacquelyn Cococcia (Jim) and Sharen Kay Arnold (Jackie); and 14 nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Viola Arnold; his brother, Kenneth Ray Arnold; and his beloved eldest son, Brandon Wayne Arnold.
Joe spent his final years in his hometown of Orange Grove, Texas, surrounded by familiar places and dear friends. He will be remembered for his humor, his enjoyment of life's simple pleasures, and his love for family, animals, and the land he called home. He is loved and missed by all who knew him.
A graveside celebration of life will be held at Sandia Cemetery on November 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
