Joe Benson Jr. was the tenth of twelve children born to Joe Benson Sr. and Mable Benson in Temple, Texas both of whom preceded him in death.
Joe received his early education in Bartlett ISD and later completed his studies at Gary Corps in San Marcos, Texas.
Joe loved God, his family and his friends deeply. He was a loving and kind soul who never met a stranger. Known for his loud hearty laugh, joe brought joy wherever he went. He fondly reminisced about his childhood, often sharing stories of the mischief he got into and somehow got away with. He had a special affection for his siblings, especially younger ones, Al and Carlyn, joking that he could tell them what to do because he was older or would blackmail them if necessary.
Joe was a devoted and loving father. His beloved daughter, Patrice Benson, preceded him death. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Kendrick Benson and Dietrick Benson. Who will carry on his legacy, along with three bonus children Kamesha, David, Derrick and his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and daughter, Joe was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Williams and Shirley Benson, and four brothers, Donald, Charles Robert and Rodney Benson.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving siblings: Jonell (Tommie) Gage of Taylor TX, Betty (Willie) Egleston of Columbia, SC, Sandra Russell of Temple, TX, Carlyn Benson of Loganville, Ga and one brother albert (Myra) Benson of Mableton, GA, along with a host of nieces and nephews who were more like siblings and held a special place in his heart.
Joe Willl always be remembered for his humor and his laughter, his love and joy he brought to all who knew him.
