Joe Blunt, age 92, of Leadington, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, at NHC Skilled Nursing Facility in Desloge. Born on October 14, 1933, in Desloge to the late William and Barbara (Haney) Blunt, Joe lived a life rich in dedication, service, and love.

A proud veteran, Joe enlisted in the United States Army on April 13, 1954, and honorably served until his discharge on March 15, 1956. After returning home, he built a fulfilling career as a maintenance man, devoting 23 years to the North County School District, following a decade at St. Joe. His dedication to his work typified his commitment to his community.

Joe attended First Baptist Church in Desloge, until health issues began to limit his attendance. He cherished his time spent in nature, often tending to his beloved vegetable garden, hunting rabbits with his beagle dogs. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things around the house. Joe was also a loyal Cardinals baseball fan, always ready to cheer for his team.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward Blunt; siblings, Amos and David Blunt, Mary “Lizzie” Shrum and Margie Cook.

Joe is survived by his devoted spouse of 68 years, Marilyn (Scheck) Blunt; children, Dennis Howard Blunt and wife Sheila, Tamara “Tammy” Young and husband Greg Embry; grandchildren, Katie (Patrick) Williams, Holly (Jacob) Cavins, Logan (Baylee) Blunt, Kelsey (Luke) Vogelsang, Konnor Young (Caleb Tittle) and Keaton Young; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Harold Blunt (Billie Kelso), Patsy Clark and husband Jim; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.

Memorial visitation will be held at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM until service time of 6:00 PM. Military honors to follow service. Dr. Bradford Laubinger will be officiating.
