Joe Tuell Brooks, “Joe T” or “Diddy” to those who knew and loved him passed away at the age of 77 on February 5, 2023. Joe was born on February 12, 1945 and was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his parents Hoyt and Louise Brooks, sister Jane Brooks Chambers, and Great Grand Daughter Adelyn Louise Mauldin. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Mary Chadwick Brooks, daughters Melissa (Sid) Corliss, Jill (Chuck) Tate, and son Chris (Lora) Brooks. Grandchildren include Hutton (Jennifer) Mauldin, Skyler Corliss, Hammond (Bekah) Hughes, Lochlain (Avery) Corliss, Chatham Brooks, Griffin Hughes, Clayton Brooks, Mary Caroline Brooks, and great grandchild Lilah Mauldin. Additional loved ones include his sister Barbara Thompson as well as his nieces and nephews.
Joe proudly served in the US Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Constellation and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his service he worked for many years as a field service representative in the pump industry, while doing so he traveled across the United States and abroad. He was very mechanical minded and known for being able to repair almost anything, many times in unusual or unconventional ways. Joe was always eager to help those in need and he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He was especially happy when one of his kids or grandkids stopped by for a visit where they always heard one of his many interesting or funny stories. He had many cherished friendships throughout his lifetime and leaves behind some who were very special to him including Bobby Echols, Larry Rollins, Barney Hammond, Earl Holbrook, and Jim Bowman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday February 13th at 11 am in the Chapel at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040 with Reverend Stephen Holbrook officiating. Internment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens. Family will receive friends Sunday February 12th from 1 pm to 4 pm and Monday February 13th from 10 am till 11 am February 13th 2023.
